I bought option #2 because I didn't want to pay another $6000 for bells and whistles like Nav. and backup camera. I had the security system and leather added at the port. Cost for my car was $24.610.

I bought pkg 7 and have been happy with the cloth. My thinking was that I could always go back and add the leather. Also toyota does not always add the leather, sometimes it is added by an aftermarket when the car reaches the port.

I just added leather to my '06 Prius at an aftermarket shop that does 95% dealer work.

This shop is used by nearly all Indianapolis car dealers and they have to do good work or they wouldn't stay in business. I was charged $1100 for the leather which I thought beat paying nearly an extra $4000 for package #8. (I bought package #5).

Not only are the seats covered but so are the side panels, headrests and center console. If you wouldn't know, you would think it was a factory job.

Most good size cities have some aftermarket shop that installs leather. Just ask your Toyota dealer! :)

When I bought mine, the dealer said they can add leather for $1200. For now, I just have the Wheelskin, which I installed myself.

My factory leather cost $1160. I had the front armrests covered (after market) for $65 each, and the center console for $75. The clothe armrests eventually get dirty I heard, and the "leather" console was actually vinyl. If I have the low traffic back armrests covered I will probably have the fabric under the rear battery vent done too. I was able to lower the cost some by using some leather the shop had on hand. It is ever so slightly more tan than the bisque interior, which I call "clay". I actually like the slight differences as accents.

Shop around the dealer sent me to a shop that wanted $450 to do the armrests only.

Seeing both a #7 with POI leather and a #8, I bought a package #8 car. Option package #8 leather fits tightly and precisely while the POI leather didn't. Option package #8 leather is still somewhat disapointing as it is ordinary quality and the center, arm rests, seat backs and headrests are vinyl. I think custom (not kit) leather is the best option. That way you can control the quality, get real leather everywhere, and choose the color.

    Good Luck, Brian
