I was driving home late tonight and found out just how good the Prius is.
I got T-BONED at an intersection by a suv (chevrolet suburban, 02). The driver hit my car dead center of the two doors on the driver side at about 20-25 mph ( police estimated ). As all the bad luck in the world was converging on me the only thought in my mind was that the car had a good crash rating and was tested without the extra side and head curtain airbags (mine has them both). But not all was lost tonight as there was a police car sitting on the side of the road at the intersection doing some paperwork. He looked up in time to watch the whole thing unfold. I looked at the damage and know it will take some work to fix it but i drove it home (broken out driver window) in the rain and it still drives straight and stops straight. ill try to get some picks in the morning after i drive it the the shop for the repairs. As a side note to you out there with window tinting on your vehicles...... my whole driver window was still attached to the film and i did not get a single scratch from the glass . I believe the tint was a plus in this crash. My air bags did not deploy as this crash was not that bad. I hope my car gets fixed fast (and correctly). Ill try to reply to any of your questions about the accident and condition of the vehicle and its ongoing repairs at time allows. WATCH OUT FOR THE SUV.... THEY'RE OUT TO GET US..

Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear you're alright. I too had a near-miss last week with some guy chatting on a cell phone that blew through a 4-way stop intersection just as I was entering it. It wasn't an SUV but it was a large gas-guzzler. They're out to get us! :)

ALoLA, thanks for your reply to my hurt. I know that the guy felt bad for hitting my little car with his big truck (his truck was crying antifreeze for what it has done). he was sorry for the fact the i had to drive away in """MY damaged RIDE""" (pun intended). But i think he was mostly sorry for the fact that he recieved no less than four tickets and might get a fifth tomorrow.
    1 driving with expired registration
2 driving with expired state inspection
    3 running a red light
4 falure to control a motor vehicle that resulted in an accident.
    (5) might be for driving with no insurance if he cant produce any tomorrow.

This reminds me of the first post in the Yahoo Prius group back in 2001. The message was the first accident report for a Prius. Very sad.

Hope you are still feeling well, and the guy has insurance.

Good to hear that you're ok. Even better since now i feel even more safe in my prius. Did any airbags go off? or was it too slow speed? I think you said nothing went off. Either way. Hope it all turns out ok. Gives you an idea of which SUV drivers are out to get us... actually.. they are. my brother drives an SUV and keeps picking on my car. hmm... Here's 20 points.

I was in the supermarket the other day, and as I'm approaching my car in the parking lot, I noticed that not 1, but 2 Hummer H2s have parked on either side of me! :( I can't help but think that it was intentional and I found myself looking for key scratches.

Just to clarify, I didn't FIND any key scratches, but after an incident I read about on the forum a few weeks ago, I couldn't help but look.

20-25 mph and no side air bags? I guess I don't understand the system because I would have thought they would go off given the size of the car and the inertia involved. What do I know. I hope you get fixed up fast. Make them give you a prius to drive Enterprise has them.

To answer a few questions in the replys to my first 2 posts. if you read the first post you see that my side airbags did NOT deploy. next i am still fillin good and the knot on my head is fine and dandy now. as for the pics i got 7 of them done today on a partialy used role of film. they have stuck me in a full size 4 door chevy pickup and i have driven only 55 or so miles and used almost half a tank ( 26 gallon tank i believe) as for the reason the bags did not deploy you can see in the pics that he got my front fender first and tore thru to the rear fender. i was able to yank the steering wheel to the right just befor the impact so it help to take some of the force from the sensors and i trust the sensor more in this case than the generic speeds people say an airbag should deploy at. when my girlfriend showed up at the accident she was all but in tears for the car. and i guess for me too ( i hope ) she and i miss it already and i am trying to get a camary or accord but there all still out for the holidays. for the bad news. the guy does not have ins and i will be claiming on mine. thank god for the uninsured motorist insurance i got on this car ( first time to get it as it is not with full coverage in this state) also thanks for the points you guys have given me god knows i can use it right now. :((

There is a button just above the Preview button labled "Add an Attachment". That will open a new section where you can specify each file to upload.

However, if you have 7pictures, it might be better to put them in your photo album and link to it.
