Today I noticed the AC not blowing cold and a hissing noise from behind the dash (much louder and constant than normal). If you click off the AC button, the hissing goes away. This leads me to believe the system is low on refrigerant which also means there’s most likely a leak. I don’t think it would be the blend actuator as this wouldn’t be accompanied by the hissing (I don’t think).

I’ve read these hybrids are very particular about the amount of refrigerant as well as compressor oil so I’m hesitant to take it anywhere except the dealer. The labor to replace any of the major AC parts seems rather extensive since they are behind the dash.

    Any recommendations or similar experiences?
