nice article. bolt looks good, just not sure about going to a smaller car, but i'm not ruling it out, it would do 100% of my driving.

Depending on what is more comfortable for you in a car, and cargo needs, the Bolt might be bigger than the gen4 Prius.
It has 4 more cubic feet of EPA passenger space, but ten less of cargo. Going by my Sonic, your recycling bins would likely fit in the back without clearance problems with the hatch.
    Compare Side-by-Side

thanks, i hope you're right. it might be perfect. it would be ironic if bolt became the perfect utilitarian car that prius used to be, and prime became more volt like, appealing to a smaller audience.

Neither would not drive from Huntsville AL to Stillwater OK and back over the Labor Day weekend. Not interested in either.

Looks more like its Prius C size based on the people standing around it and the cars next to it.

It was developed from the Trax/Sonic platform, which are the same size class as the Prius c; the subcompact of a brand's line up. The Sonic is roomy for its size, and before GM switched it from car to station wagon for the EPA class, the hatchback has enough interior volume to be counted as a midsize.

The gen4 has lost EPA passenger space in comparison to the gen3.

Depending on the individual's needs, a Bolt could work for someone looking at a Prius or Prime.

we have the hycam for long trips. i could actually use a 50 mile bev for all my driving, except when my father is home from florida in the summer. with 63% of my 48,000 pip miles in ev, i don't really need a bev, i just want one.:)

I just want one too. But I need to know I can make 110 miles or more on one charge, in the cold of winter, in snow, and in traffic, including future battery degradation, all combined. Guaranteed. If not, I need a phev. It boils down to the prime being an efficient phev and not a part time Bev/hybrid. If prime had more ev range it would be an instant sale. as it is, I need to see one in person, drive it, and decide whether I should buy now, wait for a refresh, or wait for a better Bev and infrastructure. So that would be Tesla 3, but then there are other issues with tesla...pricing, availability, reliability etc. Bolt is too small, I can't drive that small a vehicle anymore. Other than that and being a Chevy, bolt would be perfect.

Yea, those 2 big guys in the front seats looked like they were touching shoulders. Even so, for the most, they had good stuff to say. I hope GM takes a lesson from Tesla & starts to pony up some DC quick charge cash for the puny SAE network.
