I understand the Prime can be set to limit charge current to 8A for circuits of 10A.

Question is: would this slower charge rate be better for the battery? I would think so, based upon usual battery "likes" and "dislikes."

Overnight charging should still get a full charge, so I can't think of a downside.

The Prime already charges up Way Below 1C, so it already charges up at a very slow safe rate.

The battery will see substantially more stress and heat for a longer period of time by discharging (running in EV Mode) than any charging rate. Your car’s charger is equipped with a lot of sensors capable of utilizing both heaters and the A/C during charging. The only thing that’ll appreciate the lower charge limit is the car’s AC/DC converter, NOT the battery.

What @Rob43 and @drash said. Toyota really babies these batteries. Coddles them, actually.

I would argue 16amp 220v charging is better for your wallet as the aid systems that waste juice don’t have to run as long making the charge more efficient

Did you really mean, "isn't better for your wallet?" Looks like the kind of typo I usually make. ;)
