I think America needs to do a lot more to reduce our production of CO2 before we can point fingers at the Brazilians.
Brazil may well go the way of Oz if they don't watch it. There is a real risk that they'll turn the interior into a desert. This happened to Australia too, through deforestation in the pursuit of megafauna.
