I bought my prius back in July and I and my wife 've put about 3500 miles so far. Since we don't think we'll reach 5000 miles quite soon, I'm wondering when we should get 6 month checkup. Is it from the day we bought our car? I've never owned a new car so I'm not used to this kind of stuff. Please help me. (I really like to learn more about cars. :D )

Well, it's less of a checkup and more of a simple oil change. For warrenty purposes, you *should* stick to their schedule, which is 5k miles or 6 months, whichever comes first (6 months from the date of the last oil change/checkup, which should be the day you took posession of the car). But many here will tell you that the Prius isn't hard on the oil at all (after warrenty, many are pushing oil changes out to 7500 or even 10000 miles), and a little extra time probably won't hurt anything.

Now, you say you've put on 3500 miles since July - thats only 3ish months of driving. I'll bet by january (your 6-month point) you'll be close to or at 5k miles, so it'll pretty much be a moot point :p
