08 with 110k miles on it, i use mobil 1, change oil every 10k. when i purchase oil i get 5 quarts, i keep the 5th quart in the car ,, checking the oil every 500 miles. an adding oil from that 5th quart i purchased, i find by the time miles wise 10k i have used almost the entire 5th quart. is this normal?
Using one quart per 10k miles sounds about right. I'm right on 130k miles (210k km) at the moment and mine uses almost exactly that amount. Quite a lot of people here are reporting mild oil consumption like this. My personal belief is that as long a you keep it topped off this level of oil consumption causes no problem. Mine seems very stable as it's been using this small amount for a few years now with very little changes.
