50.6 MPG! It's going up. Now on my 5th tank and at 100 or so miles I hit 54.3. I believe I'll see even better than 50.6 on this 5th tank. Tires @ 40/38 Temps @ low 30's AM and mid 50's to 61 this afternoon. I went 503 miles on this 4th tank before the "Add Fuel" came on and last "blip" was blinking. I know there's another gallon or so in there but filled up @ 506 miles anyway. Man, probably could've gone another 50 miles or so....that's awesome on one little Prius tank of gas! Lovin it! Aaron
Thats great I managed 47-49 with a head wind, highway driving first drive, getting about 50-51 right now. No idea of tire pressure 30 morning and 61 afternoon I agree love this car!
I believe you're right. I want to post these here for a while. This way, folks who see that B.S. on TV about some guy getting in the 30's all the time can have some peace of mind knowing that most of us do get a lot better than that. Sheeeez... MOST of us reading here know that there are a LOT of variables to this MPG thing....some don't. So to those of you reading here to learn all you can about this special (and I do mean special) car before buying one, I can say this.... IMHO: No matter how/where/when you drive this car...it will always get better MPG than anything you have, can or will drive GIVEN THE SAME EXACT VARIABLES. The EXCEPTION would be the Honda Insight and that is a totally different thing. Apples & Oranges. 2 seater, stick shift and quite a bit smaller. Aaron
How funny! And true! I'll always be very excited and happy to get 50 and over. No unreasonable expectations here...but I can get spoiled for sure Aaron
Oh you hit that nail on the head. The temps have been in the 30s and 40s lately and I'm irked that I'm struggling to stay above 48.5 MPG. GGrrrrr. I better check the air pressure again. Maybe I can take the cargo mat out of the back to lighten the load. Did I have a large lunch? Perhaps I can only drive with the wind or only downhill. There's got to be something, SOMETHING, I can do to get back up to 50.
Great mileage. I had to rent a car last week and they gave me a Dodge truck. I put $30.00 in gas and went a total of around 180 miles. The display said I was getting 13.1 miles per gallon. The Prius is a great car.
