On my 2008 with 221k miles I'm averaging over 43mpg, is this acceptable? I'm new to the Prius world and would like feedback. The battery seems to behave like it should, it shuts down and even drives on the battery when stopped or say at the fast food drive through, but with this many miles seems like a ticking time bomb. Any insight would be great. Thanks

43 mpg is good. If you take a look at fueleconomy.gov the few 2008s still being tracked there are averaging 43 to 44. If you look at fuelly.com the cumulative average for the 2008 over the years is 43.1. You'll see people on this site getting well over that but it's only an indication of what is possible with their particular vehicle. You may be able to substantially increase your own mileage but you also may not. Just know it is perfectly fine where it is at.

Is it still the original hybrid battery? If it is you should look into reconditioning maintenance of it and be budgeting for a replacement. At 10 years old you're probably going to need a new one in the next few years.

At 10 years old and with over 200K miles, I think I'd be happy that is still running at all !!!
    (Joking.......mostly.)

Hi Sam. For what it's worth, my friend Demilles Prius V was getting a solid 49 MPG until summertime came, then his avg MPG dropped down to 44. Now that it's getting cooler, he said he's noticed it's back up around 50MPG.

Your reported mileage is within the normal range as others have also replied. Just drive it and enjoy!
