The base Lexus Hybrid H250h is about the same price as the Toyota Prius GIII V ADV. The base Toyota Prius GIII V ADV is about $32,000.00 and the Lexus Hybrid H250h is $34,200.00. The seats really look very very comfortable on the H250h. Yet, I am not sure what to think about the exterior design. Do you like the Toyota Prius GIII V ADV better than the base Lexus Hybrid H250h? And, if so, why?

You can expect to get around 20 mpg more with the Prius.
So, if you're like me and your main interest is fuel efficiency,
that will be the deal breaker

Re: Prius III V ADV vs Lexus H250h?

This is what I'm thinking also. The Lexus Hybrid H250h has a 2.4L DOHC VVI engine. But, I think the same engine is used in the Toyota Scion. And, some of the Scion's with that engine go for about $20,000.00. The Lexus Hybrid H250h had a mileage sticker listing 34MPG. So, this is not very good. The interior of the vehicle looked very very nice. The exterior didn't do anything for me. But, when it comes down to it, my main interest is in fuel efficiency. I have had four wonderful years with the Toyota Prius GII. I don't think I could go back to a vehicle with less fuel efficiency. I will continue to wait for the new 2010 Toyota Prius GIII V ADV.

Re: Prius III V ADV vs Lexus H250h?

Exactly... especially since you're already accustomed to the high fuel efficiency. My previous car before my 2010 Prius was a 2008 Scion tC, and it had the 2.4L DOHC VVI engine. It is a great engine indeed, but if we're talking strictly "hybrid and fuel efficiency" the Prius wins hands down.
Yes, the Lexus is quite plush and fancy inside, but the Prius is far from horrible. It boils down to which you'd prefer - excessive luxury or excessive fuel efficiency.
Now... if there was a vehicle that combined both, of course for a bit more $$, I'd go with that one. ;)

The H250h looks like a boring Corolla. If I am to get a Lexus, it can't look like a Toyota. Enough said.

Very different buyer base for the Prius and the Lexus. Drive each and decide for yourself.

Lexus dealers are generally very easy to deal with

Re: Prius III V ADV vs Lexus H250h?

I'm not waiting for the base Toyota Prius GIII base model. I'm waiting for the highest priced 2010 Prius GIII model. This model is the V with advanced technology. The list price on this vehicle is about $32,000.00 dollars. The base price of the Lexus Hybrid H250h is $34,200.00 dollars. When you pay $32,000.00 for a Prius GIII V ADV you are not that far away from a Lexus Hybrid H250h. But, to me, I think that I would prefer the new 2010 Prius GIII V ADV. And, no, I am not going to cancel my order.

It is better to refer to what you want as a GenIII or GIII Prius V.

If you say Prius III model V it sounds like you may want a Prius III or V.

Most are calling the 2000-2003 Prius the GI. The 2004-2009 GII and 2010- GIII.

Just makes it easier and avoids confusion :)

I think you'll be quite pleased with the Prius V w. AT. On road trips I absolutely love using the LKA and DRCC, really lessens driver fatigue.

As for the Lexus, I just wouldn't want a car with a trunk again, especially one that gets 20mpg less than my prius. (I also do not like the looks of it too much, but that's me) I also read in a magazine that while the interior is still Lexus like in the HS250h, it is not quite what you will find in other Lexus models...

Re: Prius III V ADV vs Lexus H250h?

Which Scion are you talking about? There are several models and the engines have changed some models besides some models coming and going. The Scion tC and the current xB uses a 2.4L 4 that's shared w/the Camry.

Per Find a Car, here are EPA estimates the HS 250h vs. automatic tCs and xBs.

    HS 250h: 35 city/34 highway, 35 combined
    tC: 21/29, 24
    xB: 22/28, 24
    2010 HyCam: 33/34, 34

I do wonder how many people will cross-shop and pick say a HyCam, fully loaded Prius, a competitor like the FFH or NAH (really cheap due to tax credits and incentives) over the HS 250h.

I'd really like to check out the interior of the HS 250h and give it a whirl.

I don't know. I checked out the Lexus HS250h today, when the salesman weren't around, on a Sunday. The interior looked very beautiful. But, the 34MPG on the sticker and exterior looks of it just didn't turn me on very much. And, even when the prices might be getting kind of close, I will still have to keep my order for the new GIII Prius V ADV model. I can't go back in mileage. And, as a friend had mentioned things about the trunk. I like the hatchback on the Prius. It makes it easier to load my accordians in it.

I totally agree with you! But, no matter, I still had to check this vehicle out on a Sunday with no salesman around. I can only tell you that this Pearl White Lexus H250h Hybrid just didn't do anything for me. When I came home, I kind of wondered does anybody feel like me? And, that is the beauty of the internet. There are a few people that feel like I do!!!!

Re: Prius III V ADV vs Lexus H250h?

You also must remember that an HS250h equipped with ALL the features of the V with AT will be substantially costlier than its base price suggestes. For LESS than the base price of the Lexus we have a V with AT, Lighted Door Sills, Carpeted AND All Weather Floor Mats, Rear Bumper Applique, Wheel Locks, VIP 32-- PLUS Security System and Remote Engine Start, an HS250h equally equipped, and with ALL the features in the AT, would drive its cost into the $40,000 range.

As others have stated here, you'll LOVE the V's DRCC, LKA/LDW and IPA, they are TRULY INCREDIBLE!!!

Re: Prius III V ADV vs Lexus H250h?

The hybrid system in the Lexus is the same as or very similar to the Camry hybrid. I have an 07 Camry Hybrid and get on average 37 -39 mpg over the past three years. I've gotten as much as 44 on the highway. I just traded my wife's 05 Prius on the 2010 Prius V and the first two tankfuls have provided 52 and 50 Mpg. I considered the Lexus before buying the Prius and after looking at it, I just could not get past the fact it reminds me of the Corolla. I'm just not willing to pay close to $40k for a Corolla look-a-like. I would really prefer the Lexus, but the exterior design is a complete turn-off. I could live with the mileage, but not the blah design. I realize there may be many that won't be upset by this and will go for the Lexus nameplate, but for me the Prius V with the ATP was the best choice for me.

If you're willing to give up the toys in the V AT and the mpg for the cache of a Lexus vehicle, sure. It's a great vehicle (It'll be the most fuel efficient Lexus and the first reasonably priced Lexus hybrid) and will attract a lot of buyers (10,000 pre-orders in fact).

Thank you for your comment. This is how I felt today. And, for a gentleman that has had four years of enjoyment with a 2006 Prius GII, where are you going to go? Can you go back to a vehicle that doesn't give you good mileage? No matter what the interior looks like, I just can not go back. But, on a Sunday, when the dealers were not around. I had to test the waters. The Lexus H250h Hybrid just is not me. I'm not going to do it. I will remain in the Toyota Prius family. But, honestly, I'm happy to hear that others have similar feelings.

I have to agree with you. I did look at this base Pearl White Lexus Hybrid H250h in every possible angle. And, this thing just didn't look good to me. Four wonderful years with the Toyota Prius GII? Where am I going to go? GIII V ADV!!! You betcha!!!
