33 MPG???

    I'm hoping to find someone else that has the same issue as me.

    My commute used to be 10 miles, about 18 minutes. I averaged about 45 miles per gallon in the winter and 49 miles per gallon in the summer.

    My commute is now 2.3 miles, and I average 33 miles per gallon in the winter. The winter here is warmer than before, usually 40° in the morning and 50° in the afternoon.

    I understand short trips affect fuel economy and I also know that the cold affects it as well, I get it...just don't know if I am dealing with something else as well.

    Because I don't have a longer commute, and I haven't driven very far recently, I have no way of telling if the car is running as good as it can.

    Is there someone else out there that can confirm that this is as good as it's going to be with the commute that I have?

    I hate to tell you this, but your gas mileage is right on point. if not on the good side for such a short commute.

    I've seen threads with exactly the same story as you. Where they only get 25-35 mpg. essentially your car can't go in to full hybrid mode with such a short commute. If you're worried and want to make sure there isn't anything wrong, go for a long drive, say at 55 mph for maybe 30 miles, and some city traffic as well.

    I figured that was a possibility. I think my random 5-10 mile trips are bumping the average up a bit. Maybe I will see 40 in the summer, wheeeeee!

    but the plus side is, you're using wayyyyyyyyy less gas.:)
