Crazy, Toyota of Tampa has it buy it now on Ebay. I inquired as to the package and was told it was for a pkg. 0, base model. My package 6 was priced about the same 6 weeks ago when I saw it on the dealer's lot and bought it, without a wait.

For another $1500, one can get a package 6 in our area. I know it, because my aunt is expecting delivery on her new Prius in about 2 weeks time.

don't recall "where" in terms of dealership location ... but i also saw a Prius on eBay several days ago that was listed in the $28k range; a 2008 with about 500 miles on it (used for customers taking test-drives, perhaps?)

i emailed them to ask which package it was and was told "Package One"....

I bought a used prius this year and the car is a 2006 with 22K miles- Its a package 6 and I paid 22K for it about 1 month back. Bought is on ebay as well.

Is there any way I can get some Tax credits on it this year? Or it is only for new hybrids!! Some help would be greatly appreciated.

The short answer is no. The tax credit is only available for new cars.

That is a great price!!! I'm sure that there is at least one desperate fool willing to buy it at that price.

Remember, these are ASKING prices. Maybe someone will be foolish enough to pay that. For now, it merely means someone is foolish enough to think he can get that price. Keep an eye on the listing if you are curious.

I can't wait for the Prius to get some good competition. It's not good for anyone to have them going for such ridiculous prices - unless you have one you actually want to sell.

    Wanna hear crazy?

About 4 weeks ago, I saw 3 new Prius' at Fremont Toyota ... all base models outfitted with some fake-butt aftermarket heated leather seats (just in time for summer!) ....

anyhow, 1 car had a sticker price of >> $34,000 I'm talking about a Prius with .. no Nav, no JBL, no Bluetooth, like I said, some base model with sketchy heated leather seats.

The other two cars were the same and stickered over ...

    $37,000 !!!! I kid you not.

I started getting vocal in the dealership ... 'are you folks serious ... geeez you're looking for suckers arentchya , etc.....'

Don't plan on shopping there in the future ... I don't play with cons, crooks and jokers.

Maybe the better question is "what would you do if someone offered you $30K for your base or pkg#2 Prius"?

Cons and crooks? Why didn't you call the police and have them arrested?

They are one of the worst dealerships in Tampa for charging over MSRP. They have every right to do so and I have every right to never spend a dollar there, a right I will exercise.

$37,400AU ($36,030US) is retail for a base Prius here in Australia, then you need to pay about $1500 in taxes plus dealer costs.
    The ebay Prius sounds cheap.

Of course if you don't like the price go on a waiting list, it's a free country.

The Prius market has definitely gone nuts...

(yeah - I know its supply and demand, and there may be some out there desperate enough to pay these prices-- but this is still crazy! Come October I'll have a true PHEV for less than what some have paid for a regular Prius...and if this market continues I'll have my PHEV for less than what some have paid for a USED Prius!)

I think if someone offered me 30 grand for my Prius it just might find a new owner!

Man, it is tempting to try and sell the Prius right now! We have two, so I think if the dealer wanted to give me a good amount for our base model, I would just get a Corolla or something. It would still be our second car, and the loaded Prius would still be the one we drove the most. It would be very hard to turn down, especially since I would assume this ridiculousness will not last after the 09's come out. I can't believe anyone would pay that much for a Base model. I don't even know if we paid that much for our 07 Touring, and it had every option available!

If I was offered 30g for my 2004 packeg 7 Prius I'd sell it and buy a 2010 Prius
