The headlights are LEDs and they are a sealed unit. If a bulb goes out, the entire thing has to be replaced.
But the LEDs should last the life of the car if they are properly engineered. Some manufacturers deliberately over-drive them to make them fail prematurely. At least that's what I've learned from watching Big Clive's YouTube channel.
LEDs Gen 4 Prius had one replaceable bulb in the back, not sure if it is the brake light or blinker. Primes tail lights are all LED for Gen 4, I'll assume the same for Gen 5 Prime as well. You'll have to wait for a Gen 5 owner to confirm of debuke that assumption. And maybe a Gen 5 Prius owner can confirm if there is still one replaceable bulb in the tail light assembly clusters.
Thanks. I’m going to give the parts department a try too although I’m typically correcting them on their misinformation. : /
My Gen 3 had both LEDs and incandescents. The only bulbs that needed replacing were the incandescents.
Reminds me of all the promises I've heard about how LEDs last forever and now that most street lights have been converted to more efficient LEDs there's more street lights that are out than there were back when they didn't use LEDs. Classic Toyota quarterly profit at all cost routine to make a headlight casing that doesn't allow you to change the bulbs "because they're LED will last forever." What a joke!
I had my 2017 Two Eco for 6 years I think. The headlights were never replaced. I wouldn't hesitate to trust the LEDs on a Toyota. Now, other brands, however, I wouldn't dare do the same. I've seen brand new domestics with already burned out LEDs that need to be replaced. I've even seen luxury versions of their vehicles burn out early.
