There seems to be some confusion. At least on my part and my local Toyota service dept. Is the Remote Charge Management feature available on the 2020 Prius Prime Limited model? I'm required to use the newer Entune 3.0 App on my iPhone. When I called the Toyota Help Desk they said the only Connected Services available is the Safety Connect which is included free for 3 years.

I have seen many postings where screen shots of their phone displaying the Remote Charge Management screen. I'm wondering if this feature is no longer available on the newest 2020 Prius Prime Limited?

It seems like Remote Charge Management is a wonderful feature. It's disappointing if it's no longer available on the current 2020 Prius Prime Limited model.

It’s very useful. When I’m too lazy to get off my butt and walk 10 feet to my attached garage and start charging early. I use more it to check/verify the car’s SOC. This is the first time I’m hearing the 2020 uses Entune 3.0. Not implying you are wrong just seems strange there isn’t more mention of that fact.

When I tried to install the Entune 2.0 version I get an error message "Your vehicle is not compatible with this App. Please download the Entune 3.0 App Suite app." The Toyota Help Desk didn't know this either. He had me try to re-install the Entune 2.0 app.

I agree it's a useful feature. I will miss not having the ability to use Remote Charge Management. However, it's not a critical feature. Just a slight disappointment. I love the car.

They are correct. PRIME APPS previously available only for Advanced trim no longer works on 2020 Limited trim.

You can read this thread to get an idea of how frustrated some 2020 Limited owners are to find out this fact afterward.

Thank you very much for this response. It confirms that I'm wasting my time trying to find the Remote Charging Management feature. No one knows about this at the dealership. It's now January, 2020 and they still don't know. I'm upgrading from a 2009 Prius so I'm still happy. Just surprised this feature was taken away. Plus the Remote Climate Control.

I got a "how are you doing with your 2017 Prime Advanced, and have you considered upgrading to a 2020" call from my dealer today. I explained that the 2020 was a non-starter due to the lack of remote apps. He claimed that the 2021 Prime will have them. Yeh, right

I guess that’s better than my dealer and service specialist telling me the 2020 Prius Prime Limited has them now.

I'm having the same issue and very interested to know if I can get it too for mine.

Read my comment #4. No Remote connect (including remote charge management) feature available in any of 2020 PRIME models. Limited and XLE have Safety Connect only. LE model has Saftey Connect and Wifi Connect.

That is very disappointing. So the sales people straight up lied to us then about the capabilities and Toyota's web site is also lying. It's not the end of the world but had I known this I would have gotten the 2019 model on the lot. I thought I was getting all the same radio features and also getting the new Apple CarPlay. Not choosing between the two.

Yep. I know about this, so when my dealer called me and asked if I would be interested getting a 2020 Prime to replace the 2017 Prime I bought from them, I told him flat out that lack of the Remote Apps (Charge Management, Vehicle Locator, Remote Climate) in the 2020 was a deal breaker for me and I would not be even thinking about getting a new Prime until that functionality was restored.

I have the 2020 Limited model and I have the Charge Management set up to start charging at 2:00 am. Hope this helps! ❤️ Randi

"Remote Charge Management" is the ability to check your charging level and start charging and do other charge management functions from an app on a smartphone, no matter where you are, as long as the car has cellular service and your phone has Internet access. This feature was removed from the 2020 Limited ("Advanced" pre-2020). This is different from being able to set up a charging schedule and do other charge-related stuff while you are physically in the car.

ohh I see! From what I’ve read and can understand you may need to subscribe to a service and then work with the app.

You may need to but you cannot because the required Entune 3.0 does not have those functions. It doesn't exist for the 2020. And I've never read any explanation for that decision. I can only guess that the new app wasn't entirely ready but they pushed it out anyway.

Yes I downloaded the Entune app but there’s not too much it can do.

Even the older version was useless except for the remote control of charging and that was only for the Advanced (Limited). Did nothing at all useful for my Premium so I deleted it.

I have found the vehicle locator function extremely useful. To the extent that I would not buy another car without it. I have also found the remote climate control to turn on A/C while still some distance from the car (beyond fob range) to be useful.

That part would be nice. I already have an app for finding my car. I used it one time. Only time I ever needed it and even then I didn't need it.

How does the app know where the car is? In the case that saved me, the car was being driven by a technology-challenged person who had gotten lost, and I used the vehicle locator app to find them.
