    Hello Everyone,

I'm on the road of buying a new vehicle but my road has forked into two paths. One side is the Prius Two and the other is the Rav 4 Hybrid...I do not know which side to take. So I've come here for some help.

I'm also thinking about the future and how I will have a family. My fiancé and I have 3 dogs as well. I am very much stuck on how the Prius has an amazing MPG, but also stuck on the fact that the Rav 4 Hybrid has a lot more space.

I need advice. Something to push me towards one more than the other. Thank you everyone!

Option 3 might be a v. A cross between the 2, in height, space and mpg.
    Prius 50+ mpg
    Rav 4 hybrid 33 ? mpg
    v 40+ mpg

Have you considered the Prius v in the mix. More space than the Prius; but less than the Rav4.

How often do the dogs go with you? Are the big dogs, small dogs or somewhere in the middle? Are they in kennels or dog car harnesses?

Which vehicle makes best sense for your driving style? Do you need AWD, even occasionally? How important is gas mileage to your calculation? Do you like the seating of a sedan or prefer an SUV? Which does your fiancé prefer?

The Prius Two would be the cheapest to own and operate.

I've not thought about the Prius V, I'll need to look into it!

Well, how good are you or your fiancé's packing skills? If one or both of your are good at packing, the Prius could work. Note that there are two different cargo capacities depending on whether you have a spare tire or not in the Prius. If your budget allows for a RAV4 Hybrid, you can get a very well equipped Prius Four (with no spare tire) for $105 more than a base RAV4 Hybrid. The models without a spare tire drop the floor by about 3 inches so that gives you about an extra 3 cu. ft. of volume according to official specifications.

The Prius v is definitely a good option for a young family. The rear seats can slide forward/back allowing you to bring a child seat forward (if you two are planning to have kids). It's large to carry the unexpected cargo (for whatever home-related or baby-related stuff you need) as well as for the dogs. There are useful cubby holes everywhere - passenger and cargo areas for storing supplies. The longer wheelbase will result in a smoother ride too. The starting price for a Prius v Two slots right in between a base Prius Two and a base RAV4 Hybrid XLE

I like the fact that the Prius V basically the perfect middle ground between the Rav 4 Hybrid and Prius Two...the thing is I very much dislike how the Prius V has van like features...do you know of any other vehicle with the same qualities as the Prius V, but has a modern look?

Well, the front is kinda ugly, but then there is aggressively ugly. When things get aggressively ugly, they become cool, to me. :)

    Welcome!
I do not know what size dogs you have. I have a 2017 Prius Two. My wife regularly take our 9 month old Miniature American Shepherd using a crate in the back seat. My son & I went to a dog show with 3 of his Papillons crated in my Prius.

Recently, my wife & son drove from Virginia to Texas and back in my son's 2015 Prius v with his 4 crated Papillons to the national breed dog show. Before hos Prius v, my son had a 2005 Prius and regularly traveled with 2 Papillons in crates.

One reason I got a Prius instead of a Corolla was the additional room for dogs.

I hope you put your dogs in tied-down crates to protect them and you. In an accident they could become flying projectiles.

I have a golden, a springer spaniel, and a pug. Lets say I have two kids in the future. Do you think they would all fit in a Prius 2?

Considering the golden & the springer spaniel, I think the Prius v would be a minimum. If you are traveling with kids and luggage, it would probably be too small.
The RAV4 might be better. Or a Prius v now & upgrade later.

The next gen Camry, coming out this fall, could be an option if you can do without a hatchback. It should get excellent mileage (official figures not released yet).

Keep in mid that the V is based on the previous gen Prius and may not be continued for 2018 or 2019. Toyota has been mum on this. If it is discontinued soon, there could be great deals on remaining Vs.

I would not recommend a Camry with 2 large dogs, especially if you have kids too.

Actually, do you need a hybrid? A Toyota Sienna minivan might be a better option with the larger dogs.
