welcome! anywhere from a few days to 4 or 500,000 miles. in california, you have a 10 year, 150,000 mile warranty, whichever comes first.

Short answer. The life of the car. There is no specific time when your pack fails. Some fail prematurely before it's warranty is up due to defects, while some due to very very hot regions or not properly maintained. Many has lasted past 200k-300k and so on. Not every module is go to fail at once as it's usually a one or a few.

You're talking about the hybrid system battery?

The 2016 is a new generation, the forth, which uses a battery technology,LiION, unused in Priuses before 2012. So the oldest one is four years old.
That makes predicting the future very hard. (the first three generations used almost the same technology called NiMH, which we have a good 19 years of history about.

Sorry Mendel. I meant that as a tongue in cheek reply to the original question about a new battery model that just started out. Lol

Make sure to park it in a garage or shade (in the summer) to keep the heat away from the battery pack. Heat tends to shorten battery life. Cabin temperature can get to 150F when parked in the sun. If you're in the Southwest, multiply this by 3 or 4 months out of the year and the battery will degrade over time. This is a new battery chemistry, so how much degradation over time is yet to be seen.

Far as I know, only the Toyota Tech Stream software will be the only software that will give you information about the HV battery. Apps like Torque is not designed for this complex electronics.

ScanGuage II, with an X-Gauge programmed in, will give you the battery temp.

Requires a Mini VCI cable if you don't have one already. This is the same software that Toyota Techcians use at Toyota Dealerships.

Apparently there are a big number of smart phone car diagnostic apps working via Bluetooth with OBD adapters like this from Amazon (the link does not work):
Veepeak Mini Bluetooth OBD2 OBDII Scan Tool Scanner Adapter Automotive Check Engine Light Diagnostic Code Reader for Android Windows
As you can see the investment is not big. The question reminds is does this apps and adapters comparable with Prius.
My car is not yet arrived so I am unable to do this test.

Those are primarily designed for conventional non hybrid cars since many of them don't have the capability of complex hybrid system diagnostic unless you have a dealer level scanner. BlueDriver is what I recommend for a scan tool while Tech Stream is for the most comprehensive.

Many thanks for your input. Have you ever try to connect this or similar devise to your Prius?
Are there any hybrid components related info available?
