2016 Super-GT Racing Prius & TRD Kit

    Since it's a Super-GT class, it's mid-engine rear wheel drive. Check out the TRD kit too.

    Yes, I was thinking of taking the power plant out of
    my 2005 Tideland and putting a Hemi in the back.

    (my version of Hemi under glass)

    Mental 2016 Toyota Prius GT300 Racecar Debuts At Tokyo

    New GT300 regulations require that the engine must be in its standard factory position. So unlike last year's model, this year's model does not have not a mid-engine placement, and has the standard Prius front engine mount.

    Instead of a 1.8 liter combustion engine, however, the 2016 Prius GT300 has a 3.5 liter V6 coupled to electric motor similar to the production Prius but probably tuned up. Maybe this is the 3.5 liter Atkinson cycle V6 used on the 2016 Toyota Tacoma which has 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torgue at 4600 rpm! Yay!

    Obviously, for those who want to tinker, perhaps this V6 engine may also fit in a standard 2016 Prius.

    Worth noting that they actually got this car homologated one day before the rule change, so it's still a mid-mounted Toyota RV8K 3.4 liter V8. Also, the two cars are running different hybrid systems - the #31 of Koki Saga and Yuichi Nakayama has a supercapacitor system rumored to be related to that of the TS040, whereas the #30 of Hiroaki Nagai and Kota Sasaki has a Li-ion battery system, I think the battery is still from the 7-seat version of the Prius v that we don't get.

    In any case, #31 got second in its class in the championship (and it came down to the last race).

    #30 will be racing at the Sepang 12 Hours, with the addition of Koki Saga as a third driver, although I don't know if it'll have a hybrid system - during the one Super GT round held outside of Japan, it had to run without it due to the shipping company not wanting to transport a Li-ion battery.
