We have had our 2015 Prius C 3 "Satsuma" (yeah, she's orange!) going on eight years now and love the car. She has 77K miles on her, and other than not starting once due to a failed 12-volt battery (it was time to replace it anyway), we have had almost no trouble with her.

A few days ago, the MFD touchscreen began freezing up at the start up message "Warning: Don't be an idiot and be looking at stuff on this screen while you're trying to drive" screen. I have tried doing the soft reset (turning the car off and back on again and then holding down the audio on/off/tuning button down while the screen goes blank and comes back on again) a bunch of times. I've been able to get it to move past the warning message to the "Home" screen a few times, but it remains unresponsive to any of the on-screen buttons. The "Mode", volume, and up/down arrow buttons on the steering wheel still work for the radio/CD player/Bluetooth audio, but you can't see what radio station, track, etc. you're on. Hitting the "Home" or "Audio" buttons just seems to turn the navigation map view on and off. A couple of times, I got it to go on to the radio station selection screen and it even allowed me to select stations by touch, but as soon as I tried another touchscreen button or any of the steering wheel buttons, it would freeze again.

I see a bunch of posts on PriusChat, Reddit, etc. about similar issues with 2015 Prius V touchscreens, including with brand new cars fresh off the lot. People write about having to get the "head" replaced and re-programmed on their new vehicle under warranty. Later posts talk about DIY "head" replacements for older vehicles. I haven't found anything about this issue with a Prius C, though. Has anyone out there had a similar issue with their Prius C?
