I have been searching this plugs position on YouTube videos but I couldn't find any specific one for my model. Can somebody help me with either a Pic or a clear video where they pinpoint the position of these threaded plugs?? What hex key size I need?? Do I have to purchase that 1/2 Quart oil pump which needs to be refilled aprox 8 times for 4 qt. of transmission oil ?? Thank you!!!
I had a 2012 Prius C and if I remember properly, It's a 10mm hex. You need to get a hex socket, you won't have enough leverage using a simple hex key. Fill plug is near the output half-shaft, loosen that one FIRST, before going after the drain plug. It doesn't make sense to drain it if you can't fill it. Drain plug is at the base, on the other side, I think - same 10mm hex. It'll take ~3.5 quarts. I used a 20 inch plastic hose and fill from the top. Use only Toyota WS ATF.
I think it’s same a Gen 2? Attached is that cars repair manual transaxle fluid level check (Toyota in their wisdom provides no change instruction). the 29 ft/lb spec (in attached), for the fill bolt, is very likely applicable to drain bolt as well, that’s the spec for both with Gen 3. Do get the replacement washers for both bolts, say when at dealership parts department getting the fluid. Also see the transaxle fluid change link in my signature; it’s Gen 3 specific but has some general info and tips. Also: don’t let anyone talk you into a “better” fluid; use only Toyota ATF WS. Toyota cautions against using anything else (in Owners Manual). Also: if Prius c transaxle is per Gen 2, I believe the fill and drain bolts are different style, maybe one socket head cap screw, and the other a regular hex-head? Not sure.
