I have a 2014 Plug In with 123,000 miles and no(knock on wood) issues with engine or batteries. I continue to get 11+ miles per charge even in cold Minnesota winters.

When I bought it the sales guy told me the car had a 12 volt battery, a hybrid battery, and a chargeable battery. The 12 volt was lead acid, the hybrid some other chemistry, and the chargeable one lithium ion. I suspect the 12 volt is right and according to the manual the chargeable one is lithium ion, but not sure about the other if there is one. On several occasions I have tried to look for a battery schematic for this car to check it out, but with no success.
    My questions.

    1. I was told when I bought it there was a 240 volt charging option. At the time was not interested and have used 120 volts for 11 years without an issue so never looked into it. Is there a 240 volt cable for this older model?
    2. Is there only one high voltage battery with a portion of it chargeable and after my 11+ miles the battery management system goes into hybrid only mode? Has anyone seen a good battery diagram for this model?

    Thanks in advance
    Gary

thereare only 2 batteries, not counting the key fobs.
the 12 volt is agm lead acid, and is under the hatch deck in the right fender.
the hybrid battery is lithium ion, and is under the hatch floor and rear seat area.
    both are rechargeable.
any L2 evse will work, with a J1772 plug.(same plug as you have for 120v. they are pretty standard, and there are a tonon amazon, ebay and etc. you need a proper power supply for them though.
    here's a couple:

Your car takes a SAE J1772 charging plug. Your 110VAC charging plug is actually 110/220VAC compatible; all you need is assembling an adapter plug. You can also spend $100+ on a 220VAC J1772 charger cord. I believe that the car's software limits the current draw to 16A @ 220VAC and 12A @ 110VAC. Your small battery will take half as long to recharge if your using 220VAC. You've been using 110VAC for 11 years, your not gaining much by switching to 220VAC IMHO. Don't waste your money.

Yes, one high voltage battery array, software partitioned. Once you burn-off your 11+ miles of EV range, the ECU automatically switches you to HV mode. The 12VDC battery is used to operate all your electronics, Traction battery pack is used to start the engine & power the electric motors, located in the transmission. The traction battery pack ECU won't allow you to draw that pack all the way down, since it's also use to start the ICE. There's also an unseen reserve partition within that traction pack to ensure car operations that the ECU can draw upon.

    Hope this clears things up.....
