2014 Plug in Battery issues..

Perhaps you mean kWh (energy). kW is a measure of power and 2 kW is actually the normal maximum power the Plug-in Prius can charge at.

The Plug-in Prius has a 4.4 kWh battery, of which about >3 kWh is available when new.

If you are saying you only get 2 kWh accessible, you have >1/3 degradation.

How are you measuring this?

i don't have a meter, so not sure about charge. i get about 11 miles on flat 30 mph roads with few stops.

try measuring ev distance under those circumstances, with hvac off, and report back

Something's not right. When I traded in my 89k mile 2013 a month ago, it was getting 10-14 miles depending on weather and speed. I usually got 3.8 to a fraction over 4 kWh per mile. I can't remember how much it took to charge, but it was over three kW, I'm sure.

 

6 miles is not good, unless your car has extremely high mileage. My 2014 with about 40K, still gets 11-12 miles.

 

My 2014 has 68K miles and i still get 10-11 miles.

 

My 2012 with 102k and counting is getting 12.5 to 13 miles per charge in warmer weather now after doing the fuse recall.

 

Hmmm... my 2014 has 147K KM, and I normally get between 16-18km (10-11.25mi) on a charge. Usually closer to 16km. My ChargePoint Home reports that it usually pushes about 2.6KWh of energy on a charge, I have NEVER seen >3KWhs on a charge.

Based on what others have said, the change energy sounds low, though the range seems about normal?

I did buy the car used (@ 2 years / 39k KM), and from what the trip meters indicated (one had never been reset, and was something like 8% EV usage), the previous owner did not charge very often.

 

The car will usually get about 2.5 Kwh in most cases, from no ev available to full, this will usually get about 9-12 miles, driving slow 30 mph to 50 mph , no ac or heat will get you about 11 miles, at higher speed 62 mph you will get about 5-8 miles, in some cases where you are constantly going up hill you will get even less, make sure that you are testing the car in a flat road at about 30-50 mph.
