About a month ago I wrecked my 2013 Prius Plug-in, which had the fog lamp upgrade. It was totaled, but I was able to purchase a replacement Prius (same year, model). I salvaged the wiring harness and have the grill but can't seem to find the right fog lamp. I have ordered several, and while they say it should fit, it doesn't. Anyone have a part number for the units I need?

have you tried asking a dealer parts counter person to look it up?

If you're talking about the foglights that go in the lower grill, like this picture shows, then Toyota compatibile foglights should fit with no problem.

IMO though, the OEM foglights are pretty poor, and are pretty much just cosmetic only.

LED foglights are much better in brightness, and are effective in illuminatimg down low. It's important to look for foglights that limit the amount of high angle light/glare though. Screenshot_20221230_094734.jpeg

Catalog Figure 81-02, Fog Lamp, shows part number 81210-12230 for the RH fog lamp assembly, which includes the bulb, 90981-13090. The RH fog lamp unit (the assembly without the bulb) has part number 81211-12230.

On parts.toyota.com, the catalogs for Prius and Prius Plug-in models are grouped together. The figure I linked is for Prius Plug-in cars (model code ZVW35), but for model year 2013, the part numbers above would also apply to Prius cars (model code ZVW30).

I guess if OP added them to his previous car, and wants them still, his mind's made up. But yeah, our Touring came with them, tried them a few times, could barely tell if they were on or off...

I tried 2 different dealers and they both told me that no accessories fog lamp or fog lamp kit were listed for my model, and that it must be aftermarket parts. They even checked it against the VIN.

Awesome...that is what I needed. Not sure why parts departments at Toyota dealers can't find that.

I also found them to be very ineffective, so I upgraded the bulb to LED and while that was better, I am looking for a compatible LED kit. Just need to make sure it would match the mount location.

Ok, I chased down the info on the site you listed...There are 2 options listed. 81220-12230(L)/81210-12230(R) and 81221-12230(L)/81211-12230(R). It looks like it is just a simple upgrade, as they are both supposed to fit, but can anyone tell me what they difference would have been?

They reason I ask, after looking at LED options, most are very low lumen output. If there was a better beam pattern in one of the OE options, then an LED bulb upgrade would give me better lumen output.

Ok, so here is an option I am considering.

STEDI™ Type B Universal LED Fog Light Conversion Kit

But it only provides 900+ Lumen per lamp, so if the OE had a better beam pattern, I could get a 3000 lumen per bulb LED upgrade.

Just need to make sure I have a good beam pattern before I upgrade the bulb.

As I mentioned above, the difference—indicated by the hierarchy in the image—is that the 81211- and 81221- part numbers are for fog lamp units only, labeled with part name codes 81211C and 81221C. The 81210- and 81220- part numbers are for fog lamp assemblies, labeled with part name codes 81210A and 81220; each assembly includes the corresponding fog lamp unit and a bulb.

^^^ You can't "upgrade" the bulbs in these. The LEDs are integral to the foglights, there is no bulb per se.

The only reference to the H11 or H8 standard bulbs refers to the harness connectors.

I have similar looking foglights on our 2011 Prius. I put yellow vinyl film over them for better contrast on wet roads. They are pretty good.

Here's a picture of them wired up as DRLs in a parking garage. 20200817_155247.jpeg 20180519_154117.jpeg

I understood that the link I provided had no upgrade path, and that is what I was worried about. I want a good beam pattern with higher lumen output.

What brand were those bulbs for you? I know the bulb placement and model is different for the 2011 and 2013, so I would like to know if they have the right lamp for my model.

The foglights in the 2011 and 2013, as well as many other Toyota and Lexus products are the same.

It wouldn't make sense for the manufacturer to produce a different foglight for each model made.

The 2010-2011 were placed on the outside, under the blinkers, and had a tapered surface. The 2012-2015 were placed more in the center and were apart of the grill, and had a flatter surface. The part numbers are totally different.

If you want very good foglights that have a sharp cutoff to prevent glare, and you can put super duper bright aftermarket LED bulbs in, then check out this thread. FYI, check out the first post in the thread, it states that the foglights are compatible with the 2010 to 2015 Toyota Prius models. The OP's Prius pictured has the foglights in the lower grill, like your plug-in.

Projector Fog lights (BOLT ON) finally! | PriusChat

I have a pair of the foglights that was purchased from the OP of the thread linked above. They are no longer available. One of the pictures shows a view through the back of the light that clearly shows the physical cutoff shield that produces the sharp light cutoffs.

I will gladly send them to you for $50 plus shipping.
