Level 1 would be 120V
Level 2 would be 240V
1772 is the connector your want.

There are lots of options depending on what you want for now or allowing for future use and how fast you want to charge, etc.

But if the only thing you're concerned with is 120V then you just want the cheapest L1 J1772 charger you can find. Probably in the $200-300 range...

First I am going to say if you have any existing 240 outlets in your garage buy an EVSE with that plug. My garage has 6-20 receptacles so mine will be 6-20.

Secondly there are 120 volt only EVSEs, so you can cheap out and buy one.

I am going to suggest, however buying one with a 240 volt NEMA 14-50 plug and use a 120 volt adapter (the 120 volt plug is called NEMA 5-15. Some times you see P for plug and R for receptacle)

Now you are asking "Why have a huge clunky 240 volt cord if I have 120 volts in my garage?"
If you ever road trip, almost all RV parks have NEMA 14-50 outlets for the RVs, so almost anywhere you go you can plug in and charge in 2 hours.

Under filters, click J-1772 and NEMA 14-50 and see all your choices. Road trips are when I want fast charging.

All plug in Prius and almost all RAV4s are limited to 16 Amps, so buying a more powerful EVSE will not speed up a Toyota.

I found my spare J1772 cord for $20.

It's a Ford cord, but since it is J1772 protocol, it's all good.
