Hello, I have found a white 2012 Prius 2, one owner, 60k miles, very clean.
    $12.000
I have checked the carfax for damage or odometer roll back, also have check KBB value. this is on Craigslist, Los Angeles area.
I think it’s a good price because of the low miles. Similar 2015’s with the same mileage were $13.500 - $14.000
Any problems with this year? I had a 2010 and dearly miss it (that was 3 years ago)
Should I keep looking, or maybe hold out for a 2015?? Thanks all! Happy Saturday

Price seems high, but you can only go by what is available

Only problem is the egr circuit. At 60k, you’re just in time to clean it out and add an oil catch can

It did seem high at first shock, but due to market it isnt so bad.

    Low mileage is nice.
    Is that private or dealer?

How long have you been looking?

I'd spend the extra for the 2015.

Without test driving it, it only looks great on paper.

Hybrids should be cheap in this market environment

If you don't drive 20k/yr, it is not worth the extra money. Go find a traditional, low mileage ICE, that will be way cheaper. What about a low mileage Corolla or Camry? I was looking at a 2017 Camry with 20k miles for $14k and change. The only advantage of the Prii is fuel economy.

Not to mention the known issues with the GenIII (Specifically most issues affecting 2010 to 2012 models)

    Premature headgasket failure (all GenIII)
    EGR circuit clogging (all GenIII)
    Oil burning (2010 to 2014)
Brake actuator failure (at least 2010 to 2012)
    Others have noted CVT failures
    Etc.

The GenIII Prius is NOT cheaper to own in the long run as compared to a traditional ICE.

With Oil headed to 20 a barrel if you can hold out a little I see the price coming down. The stupid oil market will again sell Americans big vehicles.
