Over 160K miles and I just noticed while the prius is idling the fuel filler is gasping either inhaling or exhaling at the gas cap. This happens at 8 second intervals while it is just idling. I've been a Prius owner since 2001 and have never heard anything like this.
Yes, I did not see any mention of the fuel filler cap gasping for air every 8 seconds while engine was running. Have you seen the happen?
No warning lights and no error codes however, it will take fuel VERY slowly. A guy could easily get frost bite trying to spoon feed the gas into this thing.
Do you have a trusted local shop that you could take it to and have them perform a smoke test? Usually slow fueling is a bad charcoal canister but could be other things. Do you usually top off the tank after the first click?
