2011 Prius, Check Hybrid System, P0A94 and P324E

    Just posting another 'Check Hybrid System' thread. 2011 Prius with 68k miles on it. Had not had the E0E recall done before. Turned the corner out of the supermarket on Friday, and the car lost all power. Coasted to a spot on the side of the road and all the lights lit up and 'Check Hybrid System' came on. Prius would not restart at all. Car is driven approximately 80 miles a day, mostly flat land, weekends usually spent in mountains. Had it towed to the dealer, they pulled P0A94 and P324E. Didn't replace the whole inverter, but looks like the repair kit, including 04899-47021 Transistor Kit replaced. Got the car back and seems to working as before. Will check mpg over the next couple of fill-ups and update if anything seems different.

    File Dec 14, 7 24 09 AM.jpeg I'm another (unlucky) victim of the failure at 66K miles with the P0A94 fault, but my failure seems atypical. I was attempting to merge onto a highway, accelerated hard and the car lost power! Scary. Was able to pull over to the shoulder and 'limp' to a parking lot at low speed with the gas engine. The dash was lit up with "Check Hybrid System" as well as several other warning lights (see pic). After reaching safety, I turned the car off. While waiting for a tow (several hours) tried to put the car into drive (it wouldn't do it). I disconnected the 12V aux battery wire at the fuse terminal in an attempt to 'reset' the car which seemed to allow it to go into drive but still in 'limp' mode at low speed. Then powered down. Wouldn't go into drive. Repeated removing 12V. Car then was able to go much faster (on gas engine only?).

    I had the safety recall for the inverter done in the spring. Car is at the dealer right now and they are waiting for parts for repair.

    A couple of things didn't seem typical in my case based on reading what others have gone through:
    1. The car would not go into drive at all, then after a while, and possibly after removing and reapplying 12V, the car would go into drive. Then it wouldn't go into drive again, etc.
    2. The dealer said that the P0A94 fault was only in "memory" and wasn't "active" - they asked if they could attempt to drive the car to make the fault code "active" so Toyota could perform the repair under warranty - I guess that worked, because they said the repair would be covered under warranty.
    3. The dealer is waiting on a part ("a plug kit") that has an ETA of 12/22. The failure occurred on 11/24.
    4. Totally weird is that Bluetooth wouldn't work in the car after the failure - my phone wouldn't pair with the car.

    To the dealer's credit, they put me in a free loaner until the car is repaired.

    Was this a case of the inverter being weakened prior to the recall and it finally failed? Any special 'tests' I should perform when I get the car back?
