In early November the RX450h AWD was purchased to replace the 2003 LX470 (The Tank). The 470's fuel economy was only 8 to 13 mpg and often only had two passengers for short around town trips. Add the increasingly expensive and necessary maintainance and repair it needed and it was clear it was time for a change.

Enter the 2011 Lexus RX450h AWD! Purchased from Rohrich Lexus in Pittsburgh, PA. The only available trim off the lot is/was Package A. This package does not include DRCC, PCS, PKA, HUD, or the designer sound /rear entertainment system. You do get the 19 inch wheels.

    Good morning.

I have a 3Gen Prius, but curiosity came crossing my eyes when looking at a brochure of the "gear" lever of the RX450h.
There is a mode + and -, and it is equal of what we can find in a GS450h, which actually does not share the same engine (V6 Atkinson on the RXh s V6 Otto DI).
Does RXh have simulated ratios on its E-CVT or this feature is only to provide extra flexibility and thus allow towing, or for other reason?

    Thank you in advance

Even our older 400h is great (and rated) for towing. More perplexing than the + & - to me is that both 400h & 450h have an honest to god neutral position of the shifter, that you can use without the vehicle being started up. Hey toyota ... builder of the Prius ... what's up w/ that?!?

    :p

The RX450h reminds me of an SUV Prius, i dont know why, even stylistically it bares a slight resemblance to a gen 3, it's a very nice car :)
