Looking to purchase my first Prius :D

Looking for a 2007 or higher Prius(preferably with package 6) - leather, navigation, Bluetooth, back-up camera etc and between 50K - 90K miles on it.

My budget is around 12K and apparently, am finding a lot of salvage vehicles on eBay and Craigslist.

Is $12K reasonable or what would be a reasonable price?

Prices are still high due to the Japanese Tsunami, seems like dealers will have a normal inventory of new Prii by December which should cause used car prices to drop to near normal, if you can wait until then. If not, it's still a sellers market.
You can check kbb or edmunds or trucar for approximate current prices. Good Luck, these cars are worth the hassle.

I just purchased my 2007 Toyota Prius Touring Package #6 with rebuilt title for $14k. Price included new tires, the recalls taken car of, Carfax, and a 5year/100k powertrain warranty (3rd party; not Toyota's insurance).

We had an independent mechanic (one with Prius knowledge & experience) do a pre-buyers inspection for us (and seller showed us before/after pictures) - you should definitly do the same. We found out our car was a lease and driver got into a fender-bender about a month before his 3-year lease contract was up; he opted to get a new car; insurance company finally sold it at auction and new owner (my dealer) had it rebuilt (bumper replaced; hood repaired - no frame or component damage, air bags did not employ). We got a great deal and am so happy with my new Prius! I never would have been able to afford one with so few miles (39k miles).

    Good luck!

After a 2-month search, am looking to make an offer at a local dealership for a 2007 Toyota Prius with 90,000 miles on it and its package 5 or 6(unsure) has the following features.

    • LEATHER SEATS
    • NAVIGATION SYSTEM
    • HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE XENON HEAD LAMPS
    • REAR VIEW CAMERA
    • JBL 9SPEAKERS JBL PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM
    • FM/AM/SATELLITE RADIO
    • 6-CD CHANGER
    • BLUE TOOTH & MP3 AUDIO
    • INTEGRATED PHONE SYSTEM
    • VOICE ACTIVATION & COMMAND SYSTEM
    • ALARM & HOME LINK SECURITY SYSTEM
    • DUAL FRONT & SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS
    • SMART KEY/ KEYLESS ENTRY & START SYSTEM
    • FRONT FOG LIGHTS
    • VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM

The asking price is 12,500 and am looking to offer 12,300.

The dealer did a touch-up for minor scratches on the front bumper and I pulled auto check and carfax and they look clean.

Any last minute suggestions before I make the offer in the next 2-3 hours?

Hope you got the car! The $12,500 was already a remarkable deal, unless the body is not in good shape...I got my package 3 2008 with 67,000 miles for $14,500, and when I was sent the lien the dealer had just pai off from the trade-in, it was $!5,000, but that was after 4 months of looking, and knowing this dealer was going to have to sell the car on Mannheim for a little less than that the next day....Yours sounds like an even better deal, but I'd have a mechanic check it out unless the dealer had sterling online ratings, because that price is almost TOO good...

Thank you. I did mention in the 'Newbie' forum that dealer agreed to the sale price and I received the final paperwork etc. :D
I believe the prices are coming down or you drive a hard bargain based on KBB value.

The Prius seemed mechanically alright and had recently passed NY state safety and emission inspection and moved to FL.
