Hi all. Ive looked through the posts on here but they are all pretty outdated. I have an 06 with a base system no JBL. I upgraded the headunit to an android chinese unit and it sounds good. I am now thinking of updating my speakers to get a little more base maybe but I want to keep the cost less than $60 a pair of speakers. Ive looked at JVC 620 Cerwin Vega, an Rockford as well as Pioneer but some people report the lack of base from these. I guess its relevant but I just want to get more base than the stock speakers. It the future I might get base tube but for now I just need a little more power.

Also can I go with just replacing the speakers and not the tweeter in the front?

Any specific speaker recomendations for my budget? thanks

I hear you, in same boat. Upgraded my base stereo to Android unit and the more I listen to the stereo, I more I notice the lack of bass. So I found a used powered Pioneer 12" sub in box. I had forgotten how small the Prius is, this thing is rather big, will be put in the trunk. I wonder if I can fit it in the spare wheel well (mine didn't come with a spare); I think the wheel well plastic floor cover might muffle the sound.

Since I was going to do this upgrade, I also bought the Android upgraded amp; reviews are mixed about the upgraded sound, it's cheap about US$30, so am giving it a try. I also bought an FM antenna booster, a couple bucks; I find the Android FM receiver to be weak. The last upgrade would be the door speakers and tweeters but I'll hold off on those.

So I finally got around to installing this cheap $30 Android compatible amp and the sound is significantly improved. I read some other review that it won't do much if your head unit is already a high end version. Mine is almost lowish end. The sound is fuller and more powerful. Middle tones are more full, it's a very worthwhile upgrade and cheap.

Next update will be for the 12" powered sub for that low end kick.
