Been getting lots of letters from Toyota of Waldorf, but no details on our order yet. Anyone else in Maryland getting a Barcelona Red 2006? Any estimate of timeframe?

 

We took delivery on our Prius today! The interior was the wrong color (gray instead of beige), but we got them to knock off $500 and throw in all weather floor mats to compensate. Toyota of Waldorf (Maryland) took good care of us...ask for Leon. He was professional, didn't pressure us (though some others took that job), and responded to our many questions with patience.

Here are some notes about our buying experience...hope it helps:

- Overall it took us about three hours, including a final test drive, discussing some options, checking their financing deals, a short education on the car, warranty discussions, and touring the service department.

- Be prepared to make a decision on Vehicle Service Agreement (aka extended warranty). We took it, since it seemed that one expensive failure would pay for it. Were we suckered? Only time will tell, but we would be interested in your ideas.

- Be prepared to make a decision on the pre-paid maintenance program. It pays for your servicing in advance, supposedly for a net discount. We declined.

- Be prepared to make a decision on "Auto Armor". It's coatings to protect the paint and interior. I thought the "undercoating" option went out years ago? We declined.

- Check with your bank or credit union first...our CU had much better rates than Toyota (at leat %1.5).
