I have a 2004 Prius with the JBL system and Navigation. It has over 250k miles still drives great but basically the CD players no longer works, has no auxiliary, and I think 2 of the speakers are blown or shot, just sounds horrible whenever I try to play music. So I really just want to upgrade my sound system, replace my speakers and headunit and still retain my steering wheel controls, while getting some features like Bluetooth. I have been searching around and I didn’t know are guides for replacing the headunit and speakers pretty universal for 04-09 years? I know some of the later models in the Gen 2 had things like Aux and maybe slightly difference electronics. And does anyone have a suggestion, good success with replacing the headunit and speakers in a 2004, happy with the sound and kept your steering wheel controls? Thanks for any help,
This kind of a walk through, looks a little hacky. I am looking for a way to get android auto in my 05.
short answer is contact Crutchfield. they will throw in installation instructions and wiring with your system and tell you exactly what to buy that will retrofit your car. depending on skill level you may even decide to scrap the junky jbl amp, but that's a big PITA.
newbie here. Getting a handmedown 04 prius. Seeing new double din nav systems going from $300-500... how much would it cost to have a professional install the system. I'm hoping to use my phone apps for maps, navigation, and music playing.
