2003 prius newbie

    bought on auction ,needed new batt ,put in ,most days the blue temp light always comes on ,then yesterday acceleration was like turtle mode only no light ,the batt meter was 1/4 then jump up to about 2/3 and the acceleration was fine ??
    I have had three other gen ll prius never had these kinda things

    In a Gen 1, the blue temp light always comes on until the temp rises to an acceptable temperature. The Gen I's are finicky. I recommend the first thing you do when you have a problem is reset the system by cycling the ignition switch off then back on.

    At most, three key cycles will suppress some error indicator lights. A true power-on reset requires disconnecting the 12V ground for ~30 seconds. This clears all codes so recurring ones can be more easily identified.

    ...and make sure you have at least 2 keys for the Gen1. If you lose your last one you are screwed.

    Wow, after owning a 2003 for the last 7 years, and now a own a 2005, I was not aware of how big of a deal the keys were on the Gen I. They just look like normal keys. Thankfully I never lost one.
