My 2003 Prius ignition switch is having problems turning the key and removing the key. Tried using dry graphite to solve sticky problem, but did not work. I am afraid to use spray lubricant.
Do you have more than one key? If so, do they all do it, or just one? My '01 came with two black-headed "full service" keys, and a grey-headed "valet" key. The only stated difference is that the grey-headed key won't open the trunk. They all should work the same in the ignition. I used one of the black-headed keys until it started being finicky in the trunk and (occasionally) the door locks, after about 9 or 10 years or so. As far as I remember, it still worked in the ignition. Then I switched to the other black-headed key and the problem went away and has stayed gone for the next 7 or 8 years so far.
