I saw in the manual of the 2002 Prius that it talks about cruise control. Mine didn't come with it, but I ordered a Cruise Control kit from Toyota parts. My question is, is there anything really tricky with doing this yourself? I heard you have to disconnect the 12v battery and the ECU. Is this true?
I just did this a couple of months ago and no real problem. You need to disconnect the battery so you can remove the airbag and the brake switch needs to be changed out. It took me a total of 15 minutes to do it. All the electronics are already installed so all you do is plug in the new connector that comes with the new steering wheel and voila. It comes with directions.
I just got my Cruise Control Kit in! I haven't connected it yet, but going through old topics I found this: 2001 Prius Cruise Control -- Intro It stays I have to be careful on disconnecting the 12V battery and wait 90-120 seconds before disconnecting the airbag. I've heard of warning lights coming on if you leave it disconnected too long. Is that true?
