Hi Everyone!! this is my first post and hopefully wont be the last for awhile! Anyways, I'm bout to become a proud owner of 2001 Toyota Prius and wanted to check and see if I'm getting a good deal. I saw a 2001 Toyota Prius w/ 77,000 Miles for $12999 AND I got the sales person to get it down to $9020 (including the paper fee) Good Deal or Bad Deal? Thanks
Check kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book) to see if that is a good price for your neck of the woods. I believe Edmunds.com also has a value calculator. Also, did you get a carfax report verifying that there is no accident history?

Price sounds about right to me. You might wait for a 2002 or 2003, as they had side air bags available as option. My latest wild suggestion is to make a used Prius purchase conditional upon a lack of metal bits in the transmission pan, but don't know that anyone has done so yet.

2001-2003 Prius has a removable bttom pan on the transmission. For the price of a new gasket + labor it can be removed. In some cases both ferrous and nonferrous metal fragments have been seen in there. That would not be a good sign, and I would not purchase that particular used vehicle. I had the transmission fluid changed at about 60k miles in my 2001 Prius, including pan inspection as above. It that instance there was only a small amount of ferrous debris on the pan's (included) magnet, to my relief.
