2 weekends ago I replaced the spark plugs in my 2002 prius. I am not sure when the last time they were changed, or if they have every been changed. At 170,000 I figured it wouldn't hurt to change them. I got the Bosch spark plugs that were OEM equivalent. The old ones had Japanese writing on them and looked pretty worn. I also did an oil change since I was at 12,000 since the previous change. The next day I filled up and managed to get 9.9gals in the tank. It has been warm/hot here 85-95 days. 1st Tank Driving was roughly 70% under 40mph and I drove roughly 11miles with the last pip blinking. I filled up the tank and managed to get another 500mile tank. This one was roughly 55-60% under 40mph NOTE: On the odometer, I forgot to take pics BEFORE I filled up. So the Guess gauge is starting to show my fill up. It took me forever to spend my $40 that I prepaid. Went about 18miles with the last pip flashing.
Don't know what happened. The Lexington, KY to Madison, WI was my reply but it went into Ninn Jin's text. Bob Edwards
WOW-WEE! I hope to get better in the warmer days. It has been in the 20's in Minnesota and I am hovering around 39-40 on what is my third fill on this new to me car a 2002 Prius. Just did what you did as changed the plugs but I put in the Denso Iridium as it called for and changed the ATX fluid. How is your driving? Maybe I am driving this thing wrong. TomK
Not too bad for cold weather. I usually got around a 42-45mpg avg during the cold months. As for the nice 500+ mile tanks, I sweat my behind off by not using the AC. When you run the AC the engine runs non stop basically turning it into a "normal car" 2 summers ago, it was running in the 100's so there was a lot of AC usage to keep the kids happy, that week was a killer.... 38mpg avg
