17" Rims on Gen II (Pics)

It's been done by many. I went with a lighter wheel to try and reduce the mpg loss but back in 2006 or 2007 there were no LRR tires in my size so I ended up hosing my gas mileage anyway. Some people can't stomach the Mpg loss with the heavy Scion wheels so they switch back like I did with my Centerline wheels. The tires cost twice as much too. But when the car looks so good, like yours does, it's tough to go back to stock.

Did the same last weekend...

For what its worth, and almost inexplicably, my MPG has gone UP almost 2 MPG (about 700 miles so far) compared to, well, ever.

 

Other factors are at work. Going from a 15" wheels with LRR tires to a 17" wheel with a LRR will always result in a loss of MPG, not a gain. Now if the 15" wheels were shod with a terrible tire and the 17" wheels were shod with a very fuel efficient tire then those results could change.

 

I'd peg it on the fact that I went from the shitty OEM tires to pretty decent Continentals...

The noise and ride are also significantly improved.

Wow, those look like the 18's on a 2010 Honda Accord Coupe 3.5L V6 but can tell they're 17's. What are those?

They are Momo Winter 2's in 17.

Thinking about doing the B&G lowering (can't afford the TRD ones...) but I'm not certain if lowering it a full inch to inch quarter will cause any rubbing issues.

Anyone know of a way to objectively test this to see if I can lower it and not suffer any adverse effects?

 

^Unless you have a reason for wanting the B&G springs, I'd recommend H&R lowering springs. Better quality springs and cheaper on Tire Rack. Also gives a raked stance since the fronts are lower than the rears. I don't know why B&G never got that memo.

Fingas has also used 17s w/ H&R springs too. I doubt you will have any rubbing issues.

I will look into this then. I'm somewhat indifferent on brand, I just don't want to have a rubbing issue.

 

Took some additional pictures tonight after a wash, claying, and wax...

Also going to add some 20 or 35 tint soon.

I considered the TC wheels but found these and really liked how they looked...turned out well.

I'm gonna match, I don't think in SC it's going to be an issue.

 

California law pretty much makes it so you can't have tint at all. It's 75% but pretty much factory windows are already at that percentage so even if you get 75% tint it'll push it below what is legal.
