My power outlet socket is damaged in my 2006 Gen II Prius.
Is it possible to use electrical accessories (tyre inflator etc) with an adaptor that uses crocodile clips attached directly to the 12v battery?
or will this cause problems? Thanks

    What caused this damage?

    Yes.

Depends upon what you connect to the battery. Since there is no fuse protection with the direct connection to the battery, you need to make sure that the accessory itself has appropriate fuse protection in the power leads. If not, use that accessory with caution and do not leave it hooked up when you are not around.

Note that the power outlet is disconnected when the car is OFF. Direct connection to the battery allows you to drain it stone dead, of course, so be careful.
