I’m thinking about getting a new 2024 or 2025 Prius Prime and am wondering if Toyota figured out a fix to the 12V battery issues yet?
I have had no issues, so far, on my 2024 Prime, purchased in September 2024. I have established that it does charge the 12v when plugged in and it starts charging at 14.2 volts each time I go into “Ready” mode. I left it parked for 7 days and had no issues and I don’t use a battery maintainer. I do avoid using the Aux mode which I believe will quickly run down the 12 volt battery.
There's only been one widespread issue, that being with the Prime and the 12v draining if left plugged in. Has it been fixed? do not know, go read the thread about it. Just don't leave the charger plugged in for an extended period of time after the car is done charging is best adivce. If you live in a cold climate and want absolute assurance in the winters that your 12v will work then go buy an aftermarket AGM replacement. Drops right in, more amp hours, better than lead acid. See the AGM thread about that. That's really it.
