exactly as predicted: me - 10k service please svc rep - ok, right this way me - i'll check the oil level and tire pressures when you're done. i would appreciate it if you could make sure they are as specified before i check. svc rep - ok, i understand. we'll take care of you. 2 hours later svc rep - all done me - arise from waiting room coma induced by 24 hour news on Tokyo-sized tv (there's only 20 minutes of "content" recycled every 40 minutes, i discovered today). ok, let's check - oil at about a 1/4 full after system off 5 minutes, tire pressures 2 lbs high in rear, 2 lbs low in front, 2 wheel covers barely hanging on and look like they'll leap off the wheels at first opportunity... hey, but i've confirmed that you rotated the tires. svc rep - what!? (pretty good inflection of incredulity) takes back to swarm of service guys 15 minutes later svc rep - you have to wait 5 minutes before checking the oil. our tire pressure gauge says its right, can we use yours? me - sure, here 15 minutes later svc rep - ok, let's try again (lots of noises about tire pressure gauge accuracies, a single thimble full of oil being poured in, etc.) me - recheck - amazingly, car checks out now, thanks. see you next time. svc rep - thanks, have a good day
You are wasting your time trying to get the dealer to get your tire pressures right, but the correct oil level is worth pursuing.
Oh God can't wait till 10 thousand miles. At first one 5 thousand miles waited 1 1/2 hours tires 40 front 38 rear on arrival. One block from dealership checked air 36 psi in all four tires after rotation. Geeze
I have a question guys... Since Toyota offers free 2 year maintenance plan, is everything pretty much FREE first 2 years? What about consumables parts such as brake pads, rotors, etc? Moreover, if I refuse scheduled PM after my warranty has expired can dealer avoid warranty on the battery / hybrid components (think in NY it's 150k miles). Thanks,
