Well I went to a dealership and test drove the Hycam, man what a car!

We went in and crunched numbers, The dealer offered $14k for my 04 Prius as a trade-in.
They then said they would drop the price of the camry from $27,813 to $25,200. If I would put $5k down and that would drop my payment to $595 a month. Since I had a credit score of 7.90....

I told them I needed to stay between $440-$550 a month as a payment. The salesman went back to the finance person, and returned to ask if I planned on putting any money down? I told him NOPE.. He left and returned again with the finance man and said they could get me a payment of $490 if I put $1k down to pay for the tax tag & title?. I told him they could tansfer the new tag I had on the Prius... He said they couldnt do that...

I told him I didn't have $1k, and it would be $0 down.. The payment offer then jumped back to $550 w/ $3k down again.. I thanked him for his time, explained that it just wasn't the right time or place to make the purchase. The salesman asked if I would concider a non-hybrid camry instead?

 Duh, I had to ask, why would I want to get rid of a hybrid for a non-hybrid?(Here's Your Sign) He did say, I could get into another Prius with no problem. But again, I was looking at the roomyness factor. I was glad I didn't need a new car because the one I have runs/drives just fine.. the HyCam was just alot roomyer, I then got up and walked out & got into my prius and left.. ( there are other dealerships in the area ). B)

I thought it was funny they where going to get me the $490 a month if I gave them $1k. But in the begining they wanted $3k down, and the payment would have been $550 a month..... ...

PS this is the same dealer that rooked me into a 60k service on my 04 prius for $550... <_<

Any ideas? why / how they could jump the numbers like that???

I had asked what the CASH buy-out was for the HyCam, they told me $31,500.00

Anyone else have a similar exprience? (dealership woes)?

When stuff happens like that, you're better off leaving. They're trying to hide something somewhere to make it work, and that almost always comes back to get you in the end.

NEVER negotiate by monthly payments, that is one of the worst mistakes you can make. Always negotiate the bottom line first on the price of the car. Once you are happy with that THEN bring in the trade and see what they will offer... BTW compare the camry interior specs to the prius on paper, they are virtually the same and the prius has more trunk space, Camry just looks a lot bigger (well it is a foot and a half longer on the outside)

width room is better on the HyCam.

It was explained that for every $1k you put down on a car, drops your payment $20.00

I just purchased a Camry yesterday in Daytona Beach. They are a little high pressure, but I liked my salesman--Frank Smith. Daytona just got in several TCHs :D You might try Daytona or DeLand. Jonathan (Internet Manager) at DeLand Toyota is very nice and they have a discounted Japanese TCH that has been in stock a while. You can view the stock online.

If you need any information from me, just ask!

At least there are a few dealers in your area.
    Good Luck!
