I have a 07 non-navi prius. When listening to US radio stations while parked, I can press the "message" button and get more detailed information about the song playing (provided the radio station broadcasts the information). However while driving this feature is disabled. Is there a way to hack the radio so that this feature is always on regardless of being stopped or moving? Thanks in advance guys!
never noticed this as I usually have the consumption screen on. My Expedition had this feature on all the time. Interesting. an enforced safety feature perhaps?
Wow, I did not know that XM radio also displays regular FM music station information... If this type of mod is possible yet then im okay with that. I just thought that there had to be other people out there want to know the name of a song and the band without having to stop each time.
There is a thread detailing how to hack the motion sensors - there are two depending on what you want to do. The downside is you lose the consumption screen -- that is why most folks install a dual position switch.
Peruse this thread. : http://priuschat.com/forums/audio-electronics/394-speed-sensor-defeat-update.html It talks about the hack to allow navigation and bluetooth phone dialing while moving. One of those hacks also allows the RDS radio data to be displayed while moving, I don't know which one. As far as I know that's the only way to get RDS message data to appear while moving, which is a real shame.
