Hey all, Been a while since I've been on chat as both of our Gen 1's have been behaving. Except.... My wife's '03 has had her front door locks not working for months now. At first the passenger side went out, then Driver's side. I purchased 2 new assemblies from my favorite parts recycling yard and proceeded to replace them yesterday. They were guaranteed to work. I started with driver's first, and to no avail, the new one did not work. Since I purchased 2, I tried the other one (for the pass. side door), and nothing as well. Doesn't even try to work on either. The rear are actuating when the button is pressed. I went online to try and find a wiring diagram to trace things back to the controller and to find pin-outs so I can check voltages. Can't find anything, I hear a relay clicking behind the fuse block on the drivers left panel when the lock button is depressed. 3 1/2 hours later, I gave up. I tried to make it a surprise for the wife, but I failed in fixing the locks for her. No Night in shining armor today! Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!
The wiring diagram manual is online at techinfo.toyota.com (for my 2001 it is publication number EWD414U, maybe for 2003 it's updated, but the details are probably similar as they are the same generation). Power to the rears and none to the fronts, eh? It will be interesting to hear what it turns out to be. The diagram manual will clearly show the junction points, etc., the front and rear circuits go through on their way to the body ECU; with luck, it will clearly show some likely suspects. -Chap
