Need to change an 02 front wheel bearing. Can the the bearing be replaced without taking hub off? It slides or presses in. Anybody been there? thanks Don
Yes, you'll need to take the wheel assembly off. Also you'll need access to a hydraulic press to press the old bearing out and the new one in. Also a torque wrench to retorque the axle nut to 159 foot pounds. It's not to bad if you have the right tools! Gerry
I got toyota brand bearings on line for like 27.00 a piece got them here, for a 2001 though, probably same for the 02. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Toyota/Prius/OES_Genuine/Wheel_Bearing/2001/Base/4_Cyl_1-dot-5L/W0133-1623041.html?loc=Front&tlc=Engine+%26+Drivetrain&intcmpid=
