i thought my axle on the 05 was the least of my worries, well my 01 is giving trouble too.

heres the recent work i did before the problem arrived.
    - changed inverter coolant

    heres the symptoms

    - after a long drive about 20-30 minutes master warning light illuminates, the car with exclamation and the triangle on the dash, after this i noticed my dashboard was considerably dimmer than before, so i went into those secret screens to Vehicle Signal Check where the 12 volt battery voltage was a great 12.0 ( not really ) its supposed to be above 13 volts when the vehicle is running.
    - after shutting off and turning on the battery is charging normally ( 12 volt ) for about 5 seconds then 12 volt converter messes up and stops.
    - erasing the codes returns the vehicle to normal, for about 5 minutes.

i measured the coolant temps, nothing out of the ordinary considering outside air temps of 80-90 degrees engine coolant measured 180-200 and intake air temperature fluctuates between 90-130 which seems ok.

I tried bleeding even more air and still none is coming out. What should I do?

    Can you read any DTC's?

Looked in the service manual and the 12V supply connects to the converter on two different lines.

    1) Converter C5-Pin 1 to the 'F10' 100 Amp Fuse/Fusible link block 1. This looks to be in the fuse box between the inverter and the edge of the engine compartment. Obviously the main output of the converter.

    2) Converter C4-Pin 3 to the 'F17' 5 Amp Fuse in Fusible Link block 2. This looks to be close to the 12V battery. This line is marked "S" making me think it is a sense line. (Given the long distance between the 12V battery and converter, this would sensible.) Fuse is called "DC-DC-S"

More than a couple of major worries turned out to be solved by:

    1) Taking off the 12V battery terminals and cleaning
    2) Checking all fuses, especially that 5 Amp fuse.
    3) Unplugging, checking, and reinstalling all associated connectors. (Not any of the HV ones obviously.)

I'm not up to speed enough to help more in this reply.

This may be of no help, but it would be what I would do before committing to bigger expenses.

    1) Swap out (if available) another good 12V battery. Could the ECUs are detecting something undesireable in the battery charging? (Florida shortens battery life. This I know.)

    2) Do all the most basic checks (radiator fans run, coolant flow?, 12V battery voltage at the engine terminal block, etc.). I know you have done these, but even I forget every possibility.

    3) Call a few autoshops to see if they have a THHT and will read for free, or lower than what the dealer charges for diagnostic codes.

Unfortunately, your previous posts indicates you know more than a lot of us about Prius internals.

hate to say it, but without codes there isn't much to go on. the symptoms can be a number of things and it would be a wild goose chase.

the dealer where DH works charges $40 for a diagnostic... might want to call local dealers and see what kind of deal you can get. we can help from there.
