That’s the route I took. Cams and valves (some of mine were bent) from the G4 head in to the G3 casting.
No tuning required. They are blowing smoke. The Gen 4 engine acts and responds to the Gen 3 ECU commands as if it was installed there by Toyota.

I had my catch can bolted to the engine block under the manifold. There was a couple of extra casting holes there. I think the engine heat helped...
