My Grid Charger is a home made up system using a variac, bridge rectifier, filter capacitor and isolation diode. It is a manual charger and when used must be adjusted from time to time during the charge process. I charge at 350ma and try and charge until the voltage on the battery levels off to about 168-170 volts. I 'm having to do this since I have some bad cells in the battery. There self-discharge rate is to high and they must be replaced in the future. I just bought a used 2004 Civic Hybrid battery and I'm now testing the cells(they are a direct replacement for the Insight battery). I plan on using the good cells to replace my bad ones. I have a 2000 Honda Insight with 122,000 miles( but the battery is a 2005 model that I'm having problems with). If your interested on this issue with the Honda Insight, There is alot of information on Insight Central under the thread Grid Charging/Balancing.----RON
