Seeing the photos of Roever's Prius reminded me of something... I'd love to find a source for euro-spec aspherical rearview mirrors. The ones from England would be opposite what I'd need. I had asphericals on the Phaeton and they did an outstanding job of removing any blind spots and simplifying lane changes.
Just received mine today! Got it from Pentagon Toyota in Sheffield, England. (Yes, I got the LHD mirror from them.) Write to Shaun at: [email protected]. You want part# 87691-47190. I've been putting aspherical driver's side mirrors on my cars for years (Volvo, Infiniti, Audi. BMW, Toyota). Wouldn't go out on the road without it.
Yes, it's heated. Glad to have helped. By the way the service at Pentagon was great. Once we established that it was the right glass, they got it out to me right away.
Frege, One more question (since we're on the subject)...is there a corresponding passenger side mirror for a LHD vehicle? The pair I had on the Phaeton had a 1/3-2/3 aspherical view on the driver side and the other had a much higher index than the NAR-spec glass. Or, should I just order a driver mirror for both LHD and RHD, giving me the best of both worlds?
I just got the aspherical - i.e. the one that is 2/3 wide angle and 1/3 wider angle - for the driver side. I've always just left the ol' "Objects are closer than they appear" mirror on the passenger side. But I like the idea of getting the Brit rhd mirror for that side - might do that myself. On my Infiniti I bought a passenger side mirror in Japan and put it on as my driver side mirror.
Shaun at Pentagon Sheffield was kind enough to list the mirrors in a Buy-it-now format on eBay. See them listed here. Needless to say, I'll be getting one for sure!
$125 for mirror glass? I'll stick to my $1 stick-on convex mirror. Actually, I pulled it from my C4C car.
