I have a 2006 Prius with the most expensive package that one could buy at that time. I took the car to my dealer recently and asked them to upgrade the navigation DVD. They told me that they don't do that and don't know how. I am buying the upgrade DVD from another dealer but do not know how to insert it. I started the car motor, took off the cover on the navigation device under the driver seat and then pressed the only button that I saw on this device. Nothing happened. No changer opened and no DVD was visible anywhere. How do I change the Navigation DVD? Thanks
There's a slot/tab like thing on the front of the DVD player. You use that to slide the opening to the DVD slot is clear.
On my 2007, there is a plastic cover on the rear of the Nav ECU (facing toward the rear of the car) that you remove to expose the slot, then IIRC you slide the switch to the side and push to eject the DVD. (It has been a while since I did it last time so I'm having trouble remembering how the eject lever works).
Just an aside, how is it possible that your dealer doesn't know how to do this? (rhetorical question expressing disbelief) It's about time they get someone trained on the Prius. Tom
Believe it, the dealers do not know anything about upgrading the NAV DVD. Get your DVD's from Metro in Detroit, he will lead you to the correct one and make sure it is for your system. There are different ones. My local dealer gave me a price of $1100 for the upgrade!!! I paid Metro $229+tax & shipping a year and a half ago. I just called him to ask if he still had it before I posted here...he does and does not offer a priuschat discount anymore but still offers the lowest price I have heard of and it is now less. The current version 9.1 upgrade is $199 plus tax and shipping. Here is his contact info. He cautions that if you need the NAV upgrade, you need to call him instead of just ordering online, as he wants to be sure you understand it is special order, can't be returned, and wants to be sure you have the correct disc before ordering. I would assume that the precaution being that different model years take different discs? Meaning, my 2005 takes a Gen 4 disc, but the 06-09 (pretty sure) would take a Gen 5 disc.
Hi all, Ophbalance pointed me in the right direction. I pushed the button in and then while the button was still depressed, I slid it to the left. The DVD ejected then. Thank you very much for your help.
